David was thirty years old when he became king, and he reigned forty years.
2 Samuel 5:4
You know youâre anointed for something great. You can feel it deep inside your bones. But the thing is, it hasnât happened yet. The big moment, the open door, the calling fully stepping into view... Itâs still on the horizon.
And honestly, that can feel discouraging. It might even make you upset or confused. You might wonder if youâve lost your anointing somewhere along the way. Maybe youâre tired of waiting, tired of feeling like nothingâs moving. (Can I take a moment here to encourage you to "Lean not on your own understanding?")
Hereâs the beautiful truth: God is working in the waiting. Heâs not ignoring you or forgetting your calling. Like David, who was anointed as a boy but didnât become king until 15 years later, youâre in a season of preparation. Those years of waiting, the struggles, the doubts...theyâre shaping you, teaching you, building your strength.
David went through running away, making mistakes, even hiding in caves, and yet, God used all of it to prepare him for a reign that lasted decades. Your time isnât wasted. Itâs intentional. It's training.
So when you feel discouraged, remember this season is part of your story. God is teaching you how to trust Him more, how to grow new habits, and how to change your thinking, all so you can step fully ready into your purpose.
Youâre not alone. Youâre exactly where you need to be.

Journaling Prompt...
In this season of preparation, what specific habits, mindsets, or attitudes is God inviting me to develop?
How can I intentionally align my daily actions with His purpose for my calling?

    Prayer
Dear God, thank You for not throwing me into the deep before Iâm ready. Thank You for this season of preparation. Thank You for the calling and the anointing You have placed on my life. Holy Spirit, guide me and teach me everything I need to succeed in the season ahead. Help me to grow in faith, wisdom, and patience. I trust Your timing completely. In Jesusâ name, Amen.
