Samson was chosen. Empowered. Spirit-filled.
And still… out of alignment. (Samson's Story)

—Judges 13-16

Samson had strength, power, and the Spirit of God resting on him. But something crucial was missing — relationship.

As you read through his story in Judges 13–16, one thing stands out:
He rarely, if ever, spoke to God.

He didn’t pray before moving.
He didn’t ask for signs or clarity.
He didn’t seek God’s voice — he followed his eyes.

Samson was anointed, but detached.
He operated on impulse, not instruction. And though God still used him, we can’t ignore how many painful consequences came with his disconnection.

Let that sink in. You can be called.
You can be gifted.
You can even be used by God…
and still not be in relationship with Him.

What a sobering thought.

This is a heart check for all of us:
Are we inviting God into our everyday decisions?
Or are we waiting until it’s too late to seek Him?

God desires closeness — not just usefulness.
He wants alignment, not just action.
And thankfully, through Jesus, we don’t have to walk like Samson. We can walk in Spirit and in step.

Journaling Prompt...

In what areas of my life have I been acting before asking God?
What would it look like to be fully aligned?

Prayer

Lord,
I don’t want to have the anointing of Samson without real relationship with You. I don’t want to move based on what looks good, sounds good, or feels good — I want to move in obedience.

Help me to consult You in all things — not just in moments of desperation, but daily. Help my family and me to walk in full alignment with Your will.

I want to hear from You clearly, consistently, and frequently.
Not just when it’s too late… but always.
Thank You for Your mercies and Your invitation to stay close.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
