"Whenever the Israelites planted crops, the Midianites… came and destroyed the produce of the land."

—Judges 6:3

In Judges 6, we see a cycle that feels painfully familiar: God’s people plant, but never get to enjoy the harvest.

They worked… but it didn’t prosper.
They planted… but it was stolen.

And it wasn’t a farming issue — it was a heart issue.

Israel had fallen into disobedience again, and their sin left them vulnerable. The Midianites weren’t just stealing crops — they were reaping the fruit of Israel’s disobedience.

How many times have we seen this in our own lives?

Working hard… but still feeling empty

Planning ahead… but never seeing the results

Planting good seeds… but watching the wrong things grow

Sin and disobedience can make all our hard work profitless.

But here's the grace in it: God didn’t leave them there. He called Gideon, and through obedience, Israel began the path back to freedom and fruitfulness.

Let this be your turning point. Ask God to reveal what’s out of alignment — and trust that when you surrender fully, He’s able to restore every single seed.

Journaling Prompt...

Where in my life have I planted seeds but not seen fruit? Is there any area where I need to repent or realign?

Prayer

Dear God,
I pray that the seeds I plant won’t be stolen or made profitless. If I’ve been disobedient in any area, show me clearly what needs to change. Help me get in order — and help me lead my family in obedience too, so we can walk fully in Your blessing.

God, I’ve seen how You show up quickly and graciously for Your people throughout Scripture… and I ask You to do the same in my life. Speak to me clearly, consistently, and about all things.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
